A History of Innovation

* The 2Wire HomePortal® residential gateway was the market’s first intelligent gateway, launched in January 2000, and the market’s first wireless gateway, launched in January 2001.
* In the summer of 2002, 2Wire delivered the market’s first suite of broadband applications that could be easily deployed to both new customers as well as existing gateway customers. These applications were remotely provisioned, using CMS, our backend component management system.
* In December 2002, 2Wire published the Open Gateway Management Protocol (OGMP) to the DSL Forum, which formed the basis for the industry’s first CPE WAN management protocol, TR-069, ratified in June 2004. Simultaneous with the ratification, 2Wire launched the first TR-069 compliant backend management system.
* In spring 2003, 2Wire shipped the first wireless gateway with a complete system on a chip.
* In February 2004, 2Wire launched MediaPortal®, the first universal set-top box to integrate DSL and satellite services, delivering a complete networked entertainment solution combining television, DVR, video on demand, music, photos and messaging. AT&T deployed the MediaPortal set-top box in the summer of 2006 as part of their Homezone service.
* In January 2006, 2Wire unveiled the HomePortal iNID (intelligent Network Interface Device), the world’s first outdoor broadband home gateway, offering carriers a significant reduction in labor and maintenance costs when deploying bandwidth-intensive triple play services.

As of August 2008, 2Wire has shipped more than 20 million intelligent gateways, and continues to enjoy ongoing industry recognition, with over 30 awards for corporate achievement and visionary products.

2wire is also seen in London but it is not popular as in Chicago.
